　　There are obvious differences between high school life and college life. Finally, in college,there is more free time for students to spend on.

　　However how should the college freshman adapt himself to these differeces. First of all, he should learn to be tolerant and consider more for others,which is necessary for group living. Moreover he should take active part in collective activities and make more communication with classmates and teachers. It will help he be smoothly integrated with your new environment. Besides,as to study,he should develop a good habit of self-teaching and learn to arrange study independently. Of course,it may take a freshman some while to become accustomed to the study and life in college. However, we all have to accept constant challenges of new things in our life. 　　Nowadays a growing number of people, especiallythe 20s or 30s, tend to stay indoors for most of their spare time, especially on holidays. Somespend the majority of the time online chatting, blogging, shopping, dating or playing computergames. Some sit with their eyes glued to the television screen, day and night.

　　People's opinions vary when it comes to this way of killing time. A great number of people maintain that staying indoors is cheap, comfortable, and most importantly, very safe. Others,however, frown upon staying indoors for too long. They are worried that lack of physical exercise and face-to-face communication with others will do harm to people's body and mind.

　　Personally, I don't think staying indoors for most of the day should be advocated. Instead,people in all ages, their physical conditions permitting, should be encouraged to spend more time outdoors. The brilliant sunshine, the pleasant green space, the interactions with other people, etc. are all good for people's health, both physically and psychologically.

　　spring set in early this year. some of my neighbors began to grow flowers. there were morning glories, jasmine, cactus, and the like in their flowerpots. i wanted to have a try myself. but i had neither knowledge nor eperience in such matters. fortunately, i came across a book on plants in the library. i read the relevant chapters, which left me with the impression that any plant would grow luuriantly if you could supply it with sufficient fertilizer and water. of these two essential factors, fertilizer was obviously by far the more important one.

　　according to what i had learnt from the hook, i sowed some seeds of morning glory in a flowerpot with a lot of fertilizer, and watered them everyday. i really took good care of them and eagerly awaited their sprouting. but,be that as it may,they just didn＇t come up. when half a month had elapsed,i was absolutely disappointed. i dug some of the seeds out of the soil and found they had already rotted! why they had rotted defied my analysis. so i went to consult one of my neighbors. he told me my failure was due to my misunderstanding of the hook, and the fact was that i had overfed themwater or fertilizer may be a two-edged sword.

　　i think i must draw a lesson from this failure——never go beyond the limit even if for good purpose.
